semaphore timeout error  0x80070079
i am running vista home premium and have never had a successful backup. i always get the same message" the semaphore timeout period has expired.(0x80070079). although i see different explanations to the cause and possible fix, i am not very computer literate and am hoping there has been a simpler way found to correct this(such as click here and it goes away). i just bought and hooked up a western digital 1tb elements external hard drive. i went to windows backup and the download started ok for about 4 or 5 minutes, then the computer started making a clicking noise, i think something in the hard drive. it clicked for a minute or two, as if it was trying to do something, and then the error message appeared. is there a simple cure for me? thanx,
